Wachnuik Funding and Grants

Strategic grant writing for mission-driven organizations

Connecting Money to Mission.

Community-based environmental nonprofit organizations are the cultivators of positive change in the face of our climate crisis. While often relying on short-term funding and donor support, many nonprofits lack the internal capacity to produce strong grant proposals and funding strategies.

As a result, funding opportunities are missed, staff become increasingly overwhelmed, reporting becomes reactive, and valuable initiatives go undercommunicated.

With training in environmental governance and community-based research, I am a grant specialist who brings analytical depth to help nonprofits frame their work within clear policy, governance, and impact narratives that align with funder expectations while maintaining cultural and contextual integrity.

With my help, you will not only get a grant writer, but a grant and funding specialist. Beyond grant writing, services focus on strengthening organizational capacity to secure and sustain funding. This includes building and maintaining funder relationships, developing budgets that meet funder requirements, and navigating the complexities of the funding landscape.

The Nonprofit Grant Landscape

In 2025, over half of Ontario nonprofits experienced program disruptions in the past year, with over 70% reporting revenue disruption.

Canadian government contributed 64% of nonprofit revenue, a total of $252 billion dollars.

Individual funders, foundations, and philanthropic grants donate billions of dollars a year, but competition is high.

Tailored services to match exactly what your organization needs

About Me:

Nonprofits and community organizations often have strong ideas but limited time and capacity to navigate funding. I support that process through grant writing and funding research, by turning complex work into clear, compelling proposals.

I am a recent graduate with a Master of Environment and Sustainability from the University of Toronto, where my research focused on conservation governance and community well-being in Kenya’s Maasai Mara. This background provides interdisciplinary expertise in environmental law, community-centered development, sustainable energy transitions, and Indigenous relations.

Drawing on this foundation, services are designed to help organizations effectively communicate their impact and secure funding through strategic positioning, well-developed proposals, and tailored funding approaches
